Ubon Ratchathani

Ubon Ratchathani is one of the larger towns in Thailand with a population of about 100.000

At the start of the Buddhist rain retreat there is a candle festival.

These candles are gigantic elaborately carved wax sculptures.

Ubon is situated on the banks of the Mae Nam Mun, Thailand second longest river

and there are some interesting wats.
