Phuket – Thailand's Tropical Paradise

Phuket is the largest island (48km long) in Thailand, located in the Andaman Sea, southern part of Thailand.

Phuket is often called the pearl of the south. Its nature: white powdery beaches, tranquil broad bays and tropical forests make it the Thailand's wealthiest, busiest, most visited island and province (1 million visitors a year) .
Phuket provides an unbeatable combination of perfect beaches, hospitality and great value accommodations, ranging from world-class resorts to tropical-style bungalows.

One of the most popular tourist areas on Phuket is Patong on the central western coast with a wide and long beach, vibrant night life and many shops, restaurants and bars. But there are also quiet beaches, so on Phuket it is easy to find your perfect beach destination and here you can see pictures of all the important beaches on Phuket to help you by this choice.

Phuket has a lot more to offer to its visitors than its beaches, enjoy the Sino-Portuguese architecture and lively markets in Phuket town  and have some pleasant surprises in the remaining island section.

Phuket beaches

A virtual journey from the North to the South (of the West cost of Phuket)

gives you a good impression of all the important beaches,

this can help you to find your perfect beach destination.

Southern beaches

Phuket Island is everywhere beautiful but the south part of the island looks like a tropical daydream. The southern beaches offer superb vistas and beautiful sunsets. Many of the best hotels and restaurants in Phuket and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are located here. The most popular are: Patong, Karon and Kata beach, which you see in an overview on the picture above.

Northern Beaches

The north part of the island is less developed and gets only a tiny fraction of the visitors to Phuket. Miles of unspoiled beaches and good food await you. As you travel north you will encounter beaches dominated with casuarina pine trees rather than palm trees.

Patong beach

One of the most popular tourist areas on Phuket is Patong with its wide and long beach.

Most of Phuket's nightlife and its cheap shopping is located in Patong, and the area has become increasingly developed.

Patong means "the forest filled of Banana leaves" in Thai.

Phuket town

In the charming old town centre you can see some Sino-Portuguese architecture, that were a 19th-century tradition in Malaysia and Singapore.

This old town has certainly some atmosphere and is a cheap place to stay, close to Patong beach, easily reached by mini bus.

The remaining Phuket island

There is of course a lot more to explore on Phuket island.

Like a beautiful orchid farm,

the East coast with the Chalong bay, Wat Chalong (a Buddhist temple)

and Fantasea, a cultural theme park, to name a few.
