Khao Yai national park.
Thailand's first national park. An area of 2.168 square km of tropical rainforest.
The park is rich in wildlife with 71 mammal species,
including elephant, tiger, bear, deer etc.
There are also 300 species of birds, including the great hornbill.
A fine way to see Khao Yai NP is a 1,5 day trip with Green leaf travel
in Pakchong close to the railway station.
First day 15:00 to Wat Tam Trirat.
An unique Buddhist cave temple full of stalagmites and stalactites,
used for meditation practice by Thai Buddhist monks .
We could have a fine swim in a pool with amazingly soft water.
It was also a pleasure to see the local girls enjoying this too.
At sunset we watched a million wrinkled flying lipped bats,
leaving their root to forage for food at night.
Second day: Jungle tour
A beautiful walk through the jungle with all the colors, sounds and smells.
The guides took really care for us and found even the smallest birds.
As an apotheosis we drove at night for half a hour behind a herd of wild elephants.
