Lopburi, a very old town, was already inhabited during the Daravati period (500-1000 AD)

In the 10th century the Angkor empire has built here several Khmer shrines.

In the mid 17th century Lopburi became the second capital

 

Sukhothai was the capital of the first Thai kingdom,

which flourished from about 1240 till 1360 AD.

In the beautiful Sukhothai Historical Park there are many relics.

 

Ayuthaya was the capital of Siam from 1350 till 1767.

Many any old wats (temple-monasteries) were built in this period.

 

Phitsanulok was the capital of Thailand from 1463-1488

It is famous because of the Chinnarat Buddha,

one of Thailand's most revered and copied Buddha's.
